John Shea

John Shea, along with his family, has been one of the most impactful supporters of Catholic education within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, as well as schools in other regions and states. In addition to funding over 1,000 school campus renovations, the Shea Family has funded tens of thousands of scholarships to support students in Catholic schools.

The Catholic Education Foundation would not be empowered to assist as many students within the Archdiocese if it was not for the support John Shea and his family have established.

John steered the family business, J.F. Shea Co. Inc., into becoming the largest privately held home builder in the country. Amidst his accomplishments, John’s family said he discovered “his true calling” in supporting Catholic education in the inner-city. His enthusiasm towards children receiving a Catholic education was unparalleled.

We are deeply grateful to John and his wife, Dorothy, for their guidance, vision and support of our mission. Dorothy is a current member of the Board of Regents of the Catholic Education Foundation.
