CEF Announces New Leadership
December 2, 2014- Archbishop José H. Gomez and Timothy J. Smith, president of the Board of Trustees of the Catholic Education Foundation of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles (CEF) today announced the appointment of Kathleen M. Ash as the Executive Director of the entity that provides tuition assistance to financially-challenged students, effective January 12, 2015.
“Kathleen has a genuine passion for Catholic education and for the needs of the poor, which she has demonstrated in her professional life and as a volunteer. She is held in the highest regard in the Loyola Marymount University community as a very effective administrator,” said Mr. Smith. “With her leadership and dedication, we can look forward to a very bright future for the CEF, our schools, and the families we serve,” he said.
Ms. Ash is currently Associate Dean of the School of Education at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. She has more than 20 years of experience in the education and nonprofit sectors. She graduated from St. Bernard High School in Los Angeles, and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and master’s degrees from the University of Southern California and LMU.
