Art Trek is a non-tuition program that CEF makes available to schools in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to enrich our students and teachers with structured art lessons.
Some of the art projects have incorporated Lunar New Year and Black History Month. This cross-curricular model utilized by teachers supplements student learning by bridging art with cultural and historical lessons, further enhancing instructional resources and development for the students.
“If we wanted to do something, we would either have to go buy supplies or hope that the kids have them. Now, we can provide the art supplies and teach the steps of the project,” said Amanda Quintana, a 7th-grade teacher from Nativity. The self-expression of the students has been a big takeaway from the teachers’ experiences with the Art Trek projects.
This CEF program is made possible thanks to the Porteous Family Foundation.
