Annual Donor Luncheon

Annual Donor Luncheon

Today at the Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral in Downtown Los Angeles we celebrated the commitment and generosity of donors who have provided years of support to children throughout the tri-county Archdiocese encompassing Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties.

Our celebration included recognition of Milestone Donors (5 years, 10 years, 15 years, 20 years, 25 years) and Million Dollar Plus Donors, as well as deceased donors and friends of CEF. Among the 80+ attendees was our very own and beloved leader, Most Rev. Archbishop José Gomez, who took pictures with recognized donors and shared words of inspiration in a short lunchtime address.

Most Rev. Archbishop Gomez underscored the need for every parent to have the opportunity to send their child to a Catholic school and he stressed the importance that we all “joyfully participate” in the beauty of our Catholic schools, not only for the good and future of the Church, but for our nation and our society (Most Rev. Archbishop Gomez also shared a little bit about his meeting with Pope Francis last month in Rome!… we too, Archbishop, will continue praying that Pope Francis will visit Los Angeles!).

We were also blessed to witness a wonderful display of talent and enthusiasm by the dance team from Transfiguration School in Leimert Park, Los Angeles. A group of students, grades 4-8, performed an African drum line dance and it was a joy to see their smiling faces! The underlying takeaway from the luncheon was a deep sense of gratitude for the commitment and generosity CEF donors demonstrate year in and year out, who in turn enable the shared effort of helping others obtain a safe, enriching, and intellectually stimulating Catholic education.
