6TH Annual Early Reading Fair

6TH Annual Early Reading Fair

More than 600 children from 11 Catholic schools throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles received over 4,000 books during the Catholic Education Foundation’s (CEF) 6th Annual Early Reading Fair. Principals, teachers and parents were on-hand to help CEF staff distribute books in both English and Spanish to children from low-income families During the two-day book fair, which took place at Salesian High School in Los Angeles on June 10, and St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy in Downey on June 11.

The children, preschool through first grade, received a CEF book bag with five books and had the opportunity to choose one book from the free bookstore. The book fair, funded by the Paul and Annette Doyle Pre-K Reading Program, also included bean bag toss, reading circles and snacks to keep the little readers occupied while waiting their turns to choose a special book on their own.
